#127 - Gulbenkian Series V

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

One of the many things I learned in blogs is that there is always a different duckling.
Different doesn't mean ugly, as ever learned by the stories.
Indeed in my point of view, is the difference that makes everything more interesting.

I love your site. I lived in Lisbon for a year about a decade ago. I spent a few afternoons at the Gulbenkian museum. However, please post more pictures of neighborhoods and views. Maybe some pictures of interesting and peculiar lisboetas. Do the disfigured beggars still patrol the Rossio? Or the old ladies near the subway entrances: de um cadinha pra a ceginha, one of them used to say.

Oh, how cute are they?! I must get to our local park to see if the ducks and swans have their babies yet, now that it's got a bit warmer.

Uma por dia: This is Anonymous responding. I am from San Diego. I once earned a Ph.D. in Portuguese history, but life and other things interfered and now I am a lawyer rather than a professor of history.
Some day, I hope to return to Lisbon with my wife. We lived in Belem and got to know certain parts of Lisbon very well. We ate many a bacalhau a bras and frago no churasco while there. Of course, my favorite dish was sardinhas com vinho verde, or maybe pescado cozido com grelhas.
Uma portuguesa once said to me: nao ha ceu azul como ha em Portugal. Oddly, the sky in southern California is remarkably similar: clear and achingly beautiful, especially after a rain. I think that is why I love Portugal so much.
Keep up the good work.
