#40 - A Lighthouse in Belém

I had never noticed it until two days ago.
It is the difference between the distracted look and another one with a camera in your pocket!

Photo taken from the CCB garden overlooking Tagus river.
I dedicate this post to Sailor Girl and Le Guilvinec !

Olha, um farol... e em Belém? ah, já me lembro ... acho eu. Entre o Padrão e a Torre, não é?

This is a very nice photo. Lisbon is one of the cities we're planning to visit, i have heard the best about it. It is known as the city of the seven hills, right?

As for what you asked on Athens DP about the size of the photos, i changed some things on the template code. If you need any help to do it, you're ,ore than welcome to ask for help.

so true -- we're often more observant when we walk with a camera. Glad you spotted this lighthouse for us.

A lighthouse between Torre de Belém e Padrão dos Descobrimentos, as Quintarantino refered but it is not calm because we keep earing a lot of noise from the city trafic and the trains.
They say that Lisbon is the city of the 7 hills, yes, but I never counted them. What you see on the other side is no longer Lisbon, it is Trafaria, called "a outra banda" (the other band)

Very nice . . . unusual. Is that an oil tank farm across the water?

Oh it's a beauty! I adore lighthouses! Funny how differently you see your city when you are always on the lookout for interesting photos for the blog, it has opened our eyes to things we took for granted too!

Slim: it's a tanker cleaning facility. When tankers, in their next trip, carry different fluids from their last one (for instance gasoline instead of crude oil), they need to be cleaned inside. This facility across the Tagus (in Porto Brandão) was built in the 80s with state-of-the-art technology, and - although not a pretty sight - is completely non-pollutant.

Sam: you strip the words of my mouth:)
John, I had no idea what "those things" in the background were! Thanks for explaining :)
